Below is a message from College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Dean, Nick Place, that is pertinent to any CAES employee who hosts events for external clients, stakeholders, students, etc.
Message from the CAES Dean and Director
Dear CAES Colleagues,
UGA Cooperative Extension recently completed a federal civil rights compliance audit. During this process, we were able to gather a good bit of information that will assist us college-wide as we seek to create information and environments that are accessible to all.
Most importantly, we are asking that you include an accommodation statement on all forward-facing, public event announcements or invitations. The language is below and will enable participants to easily identify the process for requesting accommodations and the statement must be in the same font size and type as the other text on the invitation or announcement.
Accommodation Statement
University of Georgia is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action, Veteran, Disability Institution. If you need a reasonable accommodation or language access services, contact the [your department or unit name] at (phone number and email address), at least three weeks prior to the program date.
From this point, it is critical that you include this statement in your announcements and invitations. We need to ensure that CAES is a place where all are able to participate fully. If you have any questions about this, please contact CAES HR.
We are grateful for all that you do for CAES!
Best,
Nick
