Looking to start a WordPress site?
WordPress 101 is a required training for all individuals who would like a CAES or UGA Extension WordPress site. We offer self-paced and instructor-led options, and this article will walk you through the steps to taking the self-paced version.
Please note that Website Accessibility Training is a prerequisite for this course.
By the end of the WordPress 101 self-paced course, you will be able to:
- request a new WP site.
- log into your site.
- navigate and upload images and documents to the media library
- create new posts and pages
- add a variety of blocks and patterns to your post or page as content
- set up your navigation menu
Ready to get started?

Step One: Get a WordPress Site
The WordPress 101 course assumes that you will have access to an actual WordPress site which you will edit as you complete course assignments. If you do not yet have a WordPress site, you can request a new WordPress website that will become your real site, or you can request a temporary test site by emailing caesweb@uga.edu.
Step Two: Sign-up and take the course
For questions on course enrollment, read: How to enroll in self-paced UGA Extension trainings. Complete the course by watching all videos and completing all assignments and quizzes.
Step Three: Confirm Completion
Email us at caesweb@uga.edu and let us know once you have finished. We will finalize your training credit and attach a Certificate of Completion that can be accessed through the Extension Training System (ETS).
If you have any support issues or questions about your CAES or Extension WordPress site, contact the CAES Web Team at caesweb@uga.edu. We are here to help you!
