In the digital age, a website is a primary point of contact, making Web accessibility and governance paramount. This article introduces DubBot, an essential tool that helps us manage the complexity of maintaining a compliant and high-quality online presence.

Defining DubBot

What it is: DubBot performs regular, automated scans (crawls) of our sites. It identifies issues and compiles them into dashboard reports that you will be able to view.

What it is NOT: DubBot does not have the ability to remediate the issues it finds.

Its primary mission for us: To ensure our websites are inclusive, compliant with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1), and provide a professional user experience.

Why We Use DubBot

DubBot’s most critical function is to help CAES monitor our content for accessibility issues. The tool flags issues like missing alt text, poor color contrast, improper heading structure, and non-descriptive link text. It can also identify broken or unresponsive links, perform spell checks, and analyze overall readability.

How We Use DubBot

Prioritizing Issues: We will focus on WCAG level A and level AA accessibility errors first, followed by fixing broken links and major content quality issues.

Remediation: Fixes can be made in the CMS (WordPress or AEM) based on what is found by DubBot. Fixes cannot be made directly to a site from within the DubBot tool.

Using Tasks: We use the built-in task assignment features to delegate and track who is responsible for fixing specific issues. We also use this as a means for support from DubBot staff on particularly complex accessibility issues.

Continuous Quality Assurance

Digital Accessibility has no finish line and DubBot is not a one-time fix; it is a vital part of our continuous improvement process.

By acting on its reports, we ensure legal compliance with WCAG standards and significantly improve the user experience for all visitors, making our content trustworthy and accessible.
