In this article we will go over how to change your CAES or Extension WordPress site’s navigation using the Navigation Block in the Site Editor. We will talk you through the process of creating a menu, adding links, removing links, and rearranging the link order in the menu.

Open the header template part in the Site Editor

First, you will need to open your site’s header to make changes to the navigation block. To do this:

  1. Log in to your WordPress site
  2. From the Dashboard, go to Appearance > Editor
  3. From the left menu, select “Template Parts”
  4. Click “Header”
  5. Click the pencil icon, or click in the window with the header template part

Add, remove, and re-arrange links to your site’s top bar navigation

The following video will show you how to add, remove, and re-arrange links in your site’s top bar navigation. Be sure to save your changes!

You don’t have permissions to edit this menu?

You may run into this message while editing your navigation: “You do not have permissions to edit this menu. Any changes will not be saved.” If you are a site administrator, your changes will be saved, even if this message pops up. Try saving your changes anyway, and if it doesn’t work, please contact the CAES Web Team for assistance.

Create a menu for your site’s Navigation Block
